Custom Paint Jobs with Our Products
When Custom Paint jobs look their best, people understand what makes them professional versus amateur. Remember: mixing warm tones with cool tones can often turn out poorly. For example, a few years ago one car company painted a light blue car and applied a gold “ghost pearl” on top, resulting in a color that no one wanted to buy. Instead, warm tones work best over other warm tones. Take this 55 Chevy fender, for instance—it was painted dark orange and accented with a beautiful Gold Ghost Pearl. Note that Ghost Pearls differ from Candy Pigments because the particles of Phantom Pearls are transparent and only reflect color in sunlight.

We also love all kinds of reds and purples in different combinations. One striking example is a Fire Engine red Camaro custom painted with our Violet Ghost Pearl over the top. Another popular combination is using Purple Candy as a base coat, topped with Red Ghost Pearl. Both combinations look fantastic. With a modest investment—less than $100 in our products plus a few hundred dollars for chemical binders, topcoats, and reducers—you can transform an entire car.

We have noticed one instance where warm colors look great on top of cool colors. Green or turquoise tones, for example, pair beautifully together—as do yellows and greens. We even carry a chameleon pigment with a yellow-to-green flip effect. One of our favorite effects is achieved by using green as a base coat and applying a Gold Ghost Pearl over it.

For some, the unusual or eye-catching combination is the way to go. For example, a color combination that seemed unlikely at first is Violet Satin Ghost Pearl on top of a turquoise base coat. You be the judge.

Remember that our Phantom Pearls can be sprayed on any color to create a custom paint effect. Even if you own a black car, adding a bit of ghost pearl to a clear coat where the sun hits or under street lights can make it really pop. – Matt
